Journal 2014/05/02

The move for MainFaucet, up to the second floor, took a bit longer than expected. The majority of it all was finished up around Wednesday, though everything started Monday. Today I feel pretty settled in.

Unsettling enough is the population of spiders around here. After scouring Google search, I think I've eliminated the Brown Recluse and Hobo spiders. Doesn't stop me from feeling every little movement on my arm hairs. I wouldn't mind them so much if I had a guarantee that they would avoid transgressing my territory.

On the lines of territory, the cubicles have been assembled so that there are more glass panels, to increase visibility through-out the workplace. The boss had issues with some of us using the work computers for non-work purposes. The only drawback I can foresee is the visibility of QuickBooks from the computer for Ruvati and Vantage Ideas. But I suppose if the boss doesn't care about it I shouldn't either.

Due to all the hustle and bustle I have once again achieved setbacks to my work. Though gratefully I turned in all the employee hours before the weekend arrived. And I updated the calculation functions for the Ruvati attendance spreadsheet. I didn't have a calculation for break times. Though in the past I've never had to really worry about it. In any case I will compress all the function into one cell some other time.

Tedious invoice updates. I have decided to forgo the standard daily procedures and focus only on updating invoices/purchase orders. Sadly there seems to be no way of syncing our system with the many, many vendor that we use to fulfill customer orders. I guess it's a good thing I know enough keyboard shortcuts. It feels weird to know that so many people here don't know many, or don't use them at all. Such is the harbinger of inefficiency.

I like Everfree Radio, but I'm not the biggest fan of the Lunar Republic Takeover. The concept is good, I like some of the stories, but I'm not a fan of Heat Wave, the voice of NightmareMoon. Namely it feels awkward to hear actors preform a script they've never practiced or perhaps even read. I know it's just a casual fan radio show, but often enough it sounds like some of them are actually trying and at least one has temporarily given up. I've heard poor cohesion in podcast like this, it just ruins the magic.

Alternatively, I kinda wanted the other programs to "interrupt" kinda like the Lunar Republic Takeover. I know it's weird to say, but I like a break from the music every now and then.

Another day done, the coming morn' is offered up to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and Space Dandy.
